Emily Newman, Esq.
Emily Newman is an Associate with Darkhorse Attorneys, where she began practicing law after passing the North Carolina Bar. She currently assists clients with litigation matters, trademark disputes, trademark applications, contract drafting, and copyright registrations, while spearheading the establishment of Darkhorse’s new Huntersville, NC location.
Emily’s professional background includes extensive experience as a Senior Law Clerk with Darkhorse Attorneys prior to joining the firm full-time. Even as a law clerk, she gained hands-on experience in trademark disputes, trademark applications, copyright registrations, and litigation support.
Emily earned her Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law. During her time at law school, she led as President of the Intellectual Property Clinic, where she successfully filed trademark applications on behalf of clients prior to her graduation. During her time at Liberty, she received the CALI award in Intellectual Property, Mediation, and the Intellectual Property Clinic. She also obtained various awards for oral advocacy as a member of the moot court team.
Beyond the practice of law, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, playing volleyball, watching Yankees baseball, and traveling.

Emily Newman focuses her practice on helping business owners protect their operations and brand through thoughtful contract work, Intellectual Property protection, and litigation support. She regularly drafts and reviews business contracts, including noncompete agreements and nondisclosure agreements, and advises clients on contract risk. Emily also assists clients with trademark protection, including trademark applications and disputes, ensuring businesses can confidently build and safeguard their branding.
In addition to her transactional and Intellectual Property work, Emily supports civil litigation matters, bringing a practical understanding of how contracts and trademarks function in real disputes. She is knows for her ability to communicate easily with clients, helping them understand complex legal issues and identify clear next steps.
